This is a friendly reminder from all the District Training Chairman that in order to recharter for the 2012-2013 year ALL REGISTERED ADULT LEADERS MUST BE FULLY TRAINED FOR THEIR POSITION, EXCEPT EXECUTIVE OFFICERS, THIS INCLUDES CHARTER ORGANIZATION REPRESENTATIVES. There are several trainings that are available throughout Johnson County to help you meet those needs. Some trainings are also available online for your convienence. You do not need to be in that district to take training in a different district. Everyone is welcome at each district training.
These are the trainings that are available online at www.myscouting.org If you have your member ID please enter that information. If you do not know your ID number please contact your District Training Chairman for that information. If you do not have an ID number you can still log onto the system. Once you have completed the training print 3 copies of the completed certificate-1 for your records; 1 for your unit; and 1 for the council. How to enter your Member ID number

Cub Scout Schedule There is no training on the 24th hosted by Northern Tier. That training will take place on October 8th. There is also a Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders on October 21-23 at Camp Naish (Hosted by Northern Tier and Kaw). Webelos Leaders that take this course will also get credit for Boy Scout Outdoor Leader Skills Training. There will be a pre-course meeing on October 12th at 7pm at Cabela's. You will need to pre-register for this event by clicking here.

Scoutmaster/Asst. Scoutmaster Training and Outdoor Leader Skills Training-Sept 24-25 hosted by Red-Tailed Hawk District. Located at Olathe Christian Church, 1115 S Ridgeview Rd., Olathe, KS. Course begins at 8:00am and will run until 4:00pm. Outdoor Leader Skills will follow at 5:00pm in southern Olathe at The Farm, 175th and Ridgeview Rd. This is an overnight course and will conclude at approximately 5:00 pm on Sunday. Fast Start Training & Youth Protection Training (Step1)
The first step in getting trained is to complete Fast Start and Youth Protection Training. Both are available on line. You will need to set up an account. Once you receive your membership number, you will need to go back in to myscouting.org and update your profile to include your number.”

CUB SCOUT LEADER SPECIFIC TRAINING (Step 3 for Cub Scouts)
There is Cub Scout Job Specific training for Tiger Cub Den Leaders, Wolf & Bear Den Leaders, Webelo Den Leaders, Cubmaster, Committee Members, Pack Trainer.

Here is an explanation for training:
*This is Scouting - required for all leaders - overview of your role as a leader in scouts
*Youth Protection - required for all leaders - teaches awareness of child abuse
*Job Specific Training - required for all leaders - overview of specific requirements for position in pack - den leaders, webelo den leaders, cubmasters, committee members
*WLOE - Webelo Leader Outdoor Experience - required for all Webelos leaders wanting to camp out as a den/patrol
*Trek Safely - Policies and procedures involved in planning a trekking activity for your unit. Recommended for Boy Scout and Venturing Leaders.
*Bike Safety - Policies and procedures involved in planning a unit biking activity. Recommended for all Scout Leaders.
*Cave Exploring - Policies and procedures involved in planning a caving activity for youth 14 years of age or older. Recommended for Boy Scout and Venturing Leaders.
*Safety Afloat - Will help Scouters understand and appreciate the most important and essential elements of aquatics safety and teach them how to organize and conduct a safe unit activity afloat. Recommended for leaders in Cubs, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouting and Venturing.
*Safe Swim Defense - Procedures on how to conduct a safe unit swim under unit leadership. Recommended for leaders in Cubs, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouting and Venturing.
*Snorkeling - Policies and procedures involved in planning a snorkeling activity for your unit. Recommended for all Scout Leaders.
*Climb on Safely - Designed to acquaint leaders with the BSA's recommended procedure for organizing safe climbing and rappelling activities for units at both natural sites and specially designed facilities. This is not a certification course. Recommended for Scouters in all levels of the program.
*Health & Safety - Recommended for all Scout Leaders, especially those involved in transporting Scouts.
*Youth Protection Training - Required for all Scout Leaders to be basic trained. (Youth Protection for Venturing Leaders is provided as part of their Basic Training Course.)
*MB Counselor Orientation - Everything you need to know about being a merit badge counselor.
